Where Do You Want me?, Sal Cassandro

I was brought up in the Catholic church. This allowed me to know of God, but I wasn't satisfied with my relationship with Him. I turned to many things in the world to satisfy me. Alcohol was my closest companion and friend. I always got in trouble because of it and every time I would read my Bible. I spent lots of time in my room grounded, reading the Word. Later in life the trouble got worse. I spent some time in jail and alcohol rehabs. During these times I would read the Bible.

Then I started going to Alcoholics Anonymous which is a 12 step program based on Christian principles. 1) I admitted that I was powerless over alcohol 2) I realized that my life was unmanageable and that there was a power greater than me that could restore me to sanity 3) I turned my will and my life over to God. 4) I made a searching and fearless inventory 5) I confessed all my wrong doings 6) I became willing to make amends, etc..

This brought me to a relationship with God. Then I started going to a denomination while using A.A. my wife said we need to go to the Catholic for our kids stability and because I was still not satisfied. So I tried the Catholic church but this was not it. So I prayed, “Lord where do you want me? In a denomination, in the Catholic church, or where?”. I was very open to wherever the Lord wanted me because I just wanted to follow Him. This was life or death for me. So through my business he brought me to a couples house to do their marble floor. I saw a verse and asked them if they were believers and the woman answered, “Yes we meet on Wednesday evening in our home.” One Wednesday an A.A. meeting was canceled and I wondered what I should do. Then the thought came to me to go to this couples house. So I did! and right away I felt like I was home. I knew this was the place I had prayed for two weeks prior. Ever since then my relationship with the Lord has been growing stronger. The local church is not an easy way; but it is the most satisfying life I have ever known. Praise the Lord.
